Licenciado en CC. Matemáticas por la Univ. Complutense de Madrid (UCM, premio extraordinario) y Doctor en CC. Matemáticas por el Programa en Matemática Aplicada de la UCM. Profesor de la Universidad Carlos III desde 1996, tras una estancia postdoctoralen el  Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (New York University). Profesor Titular  desde  1998. Mis áreas de interés científico son el Análisis Matricial y el Álgebra Lineal Numérica, con especial atención a los  problemas espectrales estructuradosy sus aplicaciones a la Teoría de Control. Fui Subdirector de Calidad  de la Escuela Politécnica Superior (2008-2012), y  coordinador de la Red Temática ALAMA (Álgebra Lineal, Análisis Matricial y Aplicaciones), que agrupa a más de 100 investigadores españoles activos en el área del Álgebra Lineal y materias relacionadas (2011-2014). Actualmente soy secretario y miembro del Consejo Ejecutivo de la Sociedad Española de Matemática Aplicada (desde septiembre de 2010).

 

I got my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and my PhD in Mathematics in the Applied Mathematics PhD Program at UCM as well. I am with Universidad Carlos III since 1996, after a postdoc at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (New York University). Associate Professor since 1998. My areas of scientific interest are Matrix Analysis and Numerical Linear Algebra, with special focus on structured spectral problems and their applications in Control. I was Vicedean for Quality Assurance of the Polytechnic School (2008-2012), and coordinator of the Thematic Network ALAMA (Linear Algebra, Matrix Analysis and Applications), which gathers more than 100 spanish researchers active in the area of Linear Algebra and related topics (2011-2014). As of today, I am secretary and member of the Executive Board of the Spanish Applied Mathematics Society (since september 2010).
